Kawasaki Ninja H2R hits 300 horsepower!

If you’re a bike nut, or were fortunate enough to have ridden sweet motorcycles back in the Seventies, you’ll definitely remember the Kawasaki H2 of the time, a 750cc widowmaker it was. Fast forward to present day, and Kawasaki has been toying with the idea of a modern-day H2, and while that sounds great, we all know how manufacturers overload on hyperbole, only to come out with a watered down end product for the masses. But, when the green team finally took the wraps off its newest baby at the Intermot Cologne yesterday, everyone went bonkers at what they saw; a supercharged 300 horsepower beast!

We know how near-200hp motorcycles like the BMW S1000R and Ducati Panigale feel; intense, almost to the point of being psychotic. So, imagine how the Kawasaki Ninja H2R would be with its blown 998cc motor. For the record, it makes more power that Marc Marquez’s championship-leading MotoGP bike!

While it is not a concept, something that a dude in a white coat came up with during break time, the Kawasaki Ninja H2R will actually be made, but only as a track special. The company promises to bring out a less fiery H2 at EICMA in November, which will feature the same supercharged engine, but presumably in a different state of tune.

We know that the H2R has a high tensile steel trellis frame, which is slathered in gorgeous green, along with three sets of carbon-fibre wings on the fairings, Brembo radial monoblocs, fully adjustable suspension, and top notch ABS and traction control systems. 300 (three hundred, in case you didn’t get it earlier) horsepower in a lightweight superbike sounds pretty much like digging your own grave, and unless you have bucketloads of talent and the utmost respect for the H2R’s abilites, it’s a done deal. It will be very interesting to see how Kawasaki’s rivals come up with an answer. If they ever manage to see through the Ninja’s tyre smoke, that is.
