It roCkS!bikes » Custom Yamaha XJR 1200
Unusually named Portuguese motorcycle garage ‘It roCkS!bikes‘ gave us the svelte CB750 custom earlier in the year, and now they are back with another stunner. Starting off with a 1997 version of the mighty Yamaha XJR 1200, the first thing Osvaldo and Alexandre did was to trim the 233kg weight of the original bike. The stock forks were ditched in favour of inverted units from a Yamaha YZF, the twin-shock rear suspension was removed, the swing-arm modified and a mono-shock was added. Further flab was cut by replacing the stock rims with a set of lighter XJR 1300 “Kineo” tubeless rims. Even the left side engine cover was replaced with an aluminium unit.
An exquisitely crafted stainless steel exhaust is bolted on to the motor and, thanks to the lack of a muffler, it sounds a bit insane too. The finishing touch on the bike is the gorgeous seat-cowling-tank, which is becoming a signature touch of ‘it roCkS!bikes’.
