What? Radical Ducati building a custom BMW? Sounds like sacrilege, but that is the fact. The ‘Interceptor’ as this R90 is called, features a heady mix of aftermarket and transplanted parts and a stunning character so typical of Radical Ducati. Anyhow, as the guys are not really familiar with the workings of a BMW engine, they turned to specialists Max Boxer for help. The blueprinted R100 engine boasts a rebuilt, race ready gearbox, lightened crankcase, worked and flowed head with larger valves and intakes, hi-comp lightened pistons, hi-flow oil system and a light weight racing clutch.
Essentially, the motorcycle gets a modified and strengthened R80 ST frame, ‘monolever’ swingarm from an R100RS and muffler from an S1000RR. Ducati components include yokes, rotors and brake pump from a 900 Monster and the forks, front rim, and calipers from a late model Sport Classic. A list of aftermarket components also complement the OEM bits, including Tomselli bars and throttle assembly, Pantahstica front fairing, Dell’orto carbs and SuperMario exhaust system. There is also a custom solo seat, carbon fibre front guard and modified Laverda fuel tank.
The build is set off with with a paint scheme that pays tribute to the Joe Bar Team BMW Interceptor Police bike from the famous French comic book series.
