Polaris Slingshot revealed!
You may know Polaris as the maker of some seriously cool all-terrain vehicles, but the Minnesota-based manufacturer has just showed us this incredible toy, the Slingshot; part motorcycle, part car, all adrenaline rush. If you think trikes are a weird contraption (remember the odd Reliant Robin from Mr Bean?), this ought to change your mind. An inverted layout means that the Polaris Slingshot has two wheels up front and a single one at the back, the latter recieving all 173hp from the 2.4-litre engine via a 5-speed manual transmission. Thanks to a lightweight space-frame chassis, the two-seater tips the scales at a scant 771 kilos and, yes, it is licensed as a motorcycle rather than a car.
The Polaris Slingshot starts from USD 19,999 (~ AED 74,000), with the USD 23,999 (~ AED 88,000) SL variant getting 18″ forged wheels in the front, a 20″ rear wheel, a small windscreen, a 4.3″ colour touchscreen, a backup camera, Bluetooth connectivity and a 6-speaker audio system. Is this Polaris’ answer to the Ariel Atom, BAC Mono and Morgan Three-Wheeler? Let us know in the comments.
