2015 Indian Scout debuts in Sturgis
Ever since acquiring Indian Motorcycle three years ago, Polaris Industries has been steadily revamping the legendary brand’s lineup, which already includes the Roadmaster, Chief and Chieftain. But it was at the recently concluded Sturgis rally that Indian unveiled the new 2015MY Scout. Apparently, the completely new design makes it the first all-new Indian Scout in over 70 years, with the 1133cc liquid-cooled V-Twin engine being the focal point of the bike. Sporting a compression ratio of 9.5:1, the mill churns out 100hp and 96Nm of torque (through a six-speed transmission and coilover monotube rear shocks), which should provide enough poke for the 255kg Scout. A carbon-fibre belt spins the 16″ rear wheel, which is shod with a 150mm tire. Braking duties are handled by 298mm rotors front and back, with the rear getting a single caliper to the front’s dual arrangement. The 2015 Indian Scout’s solo tan leather bucket seat sits just 25 inches off the tarmac, and that should make for a comfortable and maneuverable riding position.
