The Honda CX500 has sort of proved itself as a cheap and reliable platform that can be easily crafted into a contemporary custom, as we’ve seen with the one from Kingston Customs. Dave Mucci, of the popular Moto Mucci motorcycle blog, picked this 1978 bike from someone in Michigan; it was in running condition, and came with a bucket load of spare parts too. The Industrial Designer set out by sketching concepts of how his finished CX500 should look like, essentially coming to the conclusion that everything was much easier than working on a car. Analog Motorcycles’ Tony chipped in with the frame modification and seat pan, with the seat itself worked upon by Rod’s Designs. If you think this custom Honda CX500 is a bit rough around the edges, it is totally intentional, as Dave didn’t want to have a nice and shiny bike for the mean streets of Chicago!
