Energica Eva revealed at EICMA 2014
The Energica Eva, revealed at the EICMA 2014 motorcycle show in Milan, is the electric bike maker’s second model. The naked streetfighter is based on the firm’s Ego electric superbike, which delivers a claimed 136hp and 195Nm of torque, as well as a top speed of 150mph. Though the electric powertrain has been lifted directly off the Ego, rumours suggest that Eva’s figures will be toned down a bit in order to improve on its forerunner’s claimed 90 mile range at 50mph.
Rather than simply removing the fairing and adding a minimalist headlight, as is the case with many other ‘instant’ naked bikes, Energica designers have worked to endow Eva with more character by means of new fuel tank, side panels and tail piece. The headlight cluster houses twin circular LED elements, an air intake and LED daytime running lights.
The 11.7 kWh air-cooled battery pack can be fully charged in 3.5 hours using a regular socket, with an 85 percent charge attained in just 30 minutes through a DC fast charge system. The tubular trellis fame is suspended by means of a front Marzocchi USD fork and rear monoshock, both fully adjustable. The Brembo braking system comprises twin discs up front and a single disc at the back, supported by Bosch ABS.
No price has been announced yet, but the Italian firm – part of the CRP group that supplies components to Formula One teams – aims to build 500 motorcycles next year.
