Pedego eBikes now available in the UAE
With the summer long gone, and the cool winter weather hovering around the 20 degree mark, it’s the perfect time to swap your cars for some fun and personal fitness with bicycles. We’re guessing that is also the reason why the extension of the bike track in Jumeirah Beach has proved very popular with local cyclists. Interestingly, we have spotted a new and innovative entrant into Dubai’s bike scene, the Pedego electric bike; a stylish and functional solution that provides you with electric power for increased convenience.
At first glance, Pedego resembles any other trendy bike, but look closer, and you’ll spot an unusually small package fitted to the rear rack. This is a powerful lithium-ion battery, capable of accelerating the bike to up to 32km/h on pure electric power. A simple turn of the hand-operated twist throttle is all it takes to activate the quiet electric motor, allowing you full control over your speed on your e-bike. Pedego bikes are designed and built from the ground up to be electric bicycles. Many safety features and qualities of these e-bikes aren’t obvious to the casual observer. Heavy-duty brakes, thicker, stronger welding and motorcycle-gauge kickstands are just some of the way Pedego electric bikes are different from standard pedal bikes.
Out in the real world, what is really neat about the Pedego e-bike is that you can use the electric motor when you need a little assistance with minor headwinds or steep inclines. Either cruising back home solely on electric power, or using it alongside your pedalling power for even quicker times, you are completely in control. The battery can last for a remarkable 40-50 kilometres depending on the rider’s weight and cycling conditions.
So, how does the motor work? The technology, developed in-house by Pedego, is new to the electric bike market, as it has no internal gears, and relies on direct drive technology that employs magnets. The brushless motor is quiet, has no parts that can wear off, and most importantly, there is zero resistance from the related parts when you choose to pedal.
Pedego offers four product lines at the moment to suit different needs and cycling conditions, from the City Commuter and Comfort Cruiser, through to the Trail Tracker and Interceptor.
