Custom BMW R65 by Fuel Motorcycles
Barcelona-based Fuel Motorcycles typically build scramblers and dirt trackers, but this time around, decided to go ahead with their first ever cafe racer project. Painted the same subtle grey as the iconic Mustang Eleanor, the custom BMW R65 Monolever was built for a young client named Jorge. He must be super happy to have given the crew a free rein during the build.
A Motogadget start button sits below the original BMW tachometer, while other goodies include a Laverda 750 SFC fuel tank, custom seat with retro-inspired leather upholstery and Heidenau K65 rubber that combines old school looks with modern performance. As the 1986 MY bike was in good condition, the air-cooled boxer engine wasn’t overhauled, but it does benefit from a competition air filter, taking overall output to 48hp. On the suspension side, the rear shock was swapped for a Hagon unit and progressive fork springs were mounted as well.
Of course, the highlight of this beautiful BMW R65 has to be that quarter fairing made using a Biltwell bubble shield helmet visor, which hides a small and powerful front light. Clip-on handlebars, modified front and rear fenders, racing footrests, custom indicator brackets and an Odyssey battery round off the changes.
