The Heinrich Maneuver » Deus Ex Machina
Deus Ex Machina’s latest build is this BMW R nineT inspired by German fuel tank designer Karl Heinrich. Head wrench at Deus Camperdown, Jeremy Tagand stripped the motorcycle bare before handing it over to Motoretro for crafting that oversized gloss white and alloy tank. Based on numerous drawings, the tank is a work of art in itself, boasting an internal labyrinth of alloy channels and plenty of surge baffles to keep the fuel from sloshing around. Atop the tank, you’ll find a suede-trimmed lidded recess housing the fuel filler and ignition.
The bespoke sub-frame is a blend of square and round section tubing, upon which sits a handcrafted alloy and suede cafe racer-inspired seat. K&N filters, Power Commander ignition module, reworked headers forming a 2-1-2 custom exhaust system and Motogadget dash complete the Heinrich Maneuver, with Jeremy also repositioning the foot pegs and controls slightly rear-set from standard.
