Simone Conti’s Ducati Monster 900SS
If you think this radical Ducati Monster 900SS is the handiwork of any of the biggies in the custom world, think again. It was built a few years ago by Italy-based industrial designer Simone Conti who was 24 at the time. Twenty four, and this was also his maiden foray into motorcycle customization! Simone had been tinkering around with the original design since 2013, gradually morphing it into a much more refined and functional piece.
The distinctive framework is crafted from 6mm thick aircraft grade aluminium panels, CNC-ed into a structural design, and tied into a new curved aluminium tube backbone that swoops from the steering head back, to also integrate subframe, seat, and monoshock provisions.
Simone fabricated the custom carbon-fibre fairings, engine covers and even designed the aluminum fuel tank and unique reverse exit exhaust. The battery and control modules are located the fairings with some of the other electrical components housed under the tank. The award-winning Ducati Monster 900SS also benefits from Multistrada wheels, Öhlins suspension front and back, as well as monoshock and swing arm sourced from a 1098.
