Heard of Praëm? No? Well, it’s a new entrant in the scene, set up in 2014 by Sylvain and Florent Berneron, a former BMW Motorrad designer and former aeronautical mechanic in the French army. Based in Saint-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse, a commune in the Île-de-France region of north-central France, the firm is setting out to make unique handcrafted machines for moneyed folks.

The name is a stylistic variation of the Latin root of the word ‘premium’, and the ideology behind the process is to build custom bikes around engines and frames of pedigree. Like this Praëm AE15 SP3, based on a 15-year-old Honda VTR1000 SP1. We don’t have much information on the bike, as it appears to be a concept aimed at showing off the firm’s skills rather than anything else. And those skills are looking pretty awesome too, thanks to an alloy body comprising numerous thin strands of aluminium, rather than a typical sheet. The SP1’s frame and swingarm are retained, with the SP3 getting Öhlins FGR forks, radial Brembo callipers, carbon wheels, slick rubber and one-off lights.

It is going to be ridiculously expensive, with all those aluminium wires and that TAG Heuer Monaco chronograph fitted to the fairing brace. More art than a daily tool, the Praëm AE15 SP3 will be customised according to personal requirements and, what’s more, the builder is already showing an additional seven designs on their website.
