Kaege Retro » The Best of Both Worlds
If you’re a fan of resto-modded Porsches, like the ones crafted by Singer and Emory Motorsports, you’d love Kaege’s newest project. What Roger Kaege has done is take a 1972 F-Series 911 (they were produced just for a year, between 1972 and 1973) and stuffed it with the mechanicals of the 993, the last of the aircooled 911s.
Powering Kaege’s Porsche is a near-300 horsepower 3.6L flat-six, which should do the job, as the car weighs around 1200kg, way less than a stock 993. A lot of equipment, including air conditioning, 6-speed manual transmission, vented disc brakes, and multi-link rear suspension are carried over, as is the OBD port, which means this car can be serviced by Porsche workshops worldwide. Improvements over stock comprise a KW suspension, lightweight lithium ion battery, Osram LED projectors residing under the classic headlight design, three-piece Fuchs wheels, and carbon-fibre front bumper, hood, and rear end.
The two-tone, leather-wrapped cabin features Recaro sport seats, lots of green and tartan trim, chromed gauges, and a Becker Mexico radio with navigation, but we’re not really sure about that 996-series steering wheel though.
