At the beating heart of the BMW R 1200 GS sits a newly designed 125 bhp engine for top-level riding. BMW works its magic by optimising the engine geometry and applying the most advanced simulation methods in order to reduce the weight of the engine by eight per cent, despite the larger capacity and wider range of functions.

Additional new features include a new intake system for optimum output and torque with 52 mm throttle valve diameter, E-gas for improved smoothness and ride-ability and an innovative exhaust gas system with electronically controlled exhaust flap for optimum performance characteristics and an earthy gearbox sound.

The result of all these newly combined features is superior power and usability under all conditions and in all situations, with power and torque constantly available regardless of engine speed, gear selection, or the weather conditions facing the rider.
