IWC, Swiss watchmaker and official engineering partner of the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula 1 team, recently unveiled two new race-themed additions to its Ingenieur collection, the Ingenieur Dual Time and Ingenieur Automatic Carbon Performance Ceramic watches equipped with features adapted to the needs of a Formula 1 driver, both on and off the track.

Sporting a stainless-steel case and dial available in either black or silver, the USD 9,700 IWC Ingenieur Dual Time is equipped with a function that allows its wearer to track a second time zone. The second time zone is indicated via an arrow-tipped hand that tracks time along a 24-hour set of indices printed around the inside of the bezel. The top half of this ring is darker in color than the lower half, indicating whether it is night or day in the second time zone.

The IWC Automatic Carbon Performance Ceramic, however, is designed with the track in mind. Crafted from many of the same materials found in high-performance automobiles, including a case and dial in carbon-fiber and a bezel made from scratch-resistant ceramic, the USD 22,100 IWC watch’s movement features an integrated shock-absorption system that resists the inaccuracies caused by sudden acceleration or braking, as well as by vibrations experienced in the cockpit.
