Chicara Nagata » All in the Details
A graphic designer who has been plying his trade for the last 30 odd years, Chicara Nagata lives in Saga Prefecture, Kyusyu Island located in the southern part of Japan. The man has also been building custom motorcycles for the last two decades. No big deal, you may think. That is until you lay your eyes upon his exquisite hand-built creations, intricately detailed and artistic sculptures (it would be sacrilege to refer to them as mere motorcycles!) that will keep you drooling for a long time to come.
In an interview with Megadeluxe, Chicara says that he spends quite some time on his designs, some even taking as long as 7,000 man-hours. Okay, that’s a lot. And this is without the help of any computer-aided design software or whizbangery. All the work – shave, sheet metal, welding and metalworking – is done using a hand tool.
