How did we miss this sweet duo at Motorcycle Live? Suzuki’s concepts for the show incvolved the Bandit-based ‘FatMile’ custom and the stunning, turbocharged Recursion.

Based on the motor and chassis from the Bandit 1250, the ‘FatMile’ was designed using the Japanese ‘senpai-kohei’ approach – where a young designer works with and learns from an established and veteran designer. In this case, Daniel Händler worked with legendary designer Hans A. Muth, architect of the iconic Suzuki Katana.

The ‘FatMile’ uses the torquey 1255cc inline-four Bandit engine and a modified Bandit frame, but wraps it all in classic café racer styling with a round headlight and custom seat unit. The tank remains standard, albeit with a custom paint scheme. Forks and Brembo monobloc calipers come straight from the GSX-R1000 and custom four-two-four exhausts help complete the custom look.

Joining the ‘Fatmile’ custom on the Suzuki stand at Motorcycle Live was the Recursion, which was first unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. It is powered by a 588cc parallel-twin engine with an intercooler turbo, designed to improve both performance and fuel efficiency. Wrapped in a lightweight, narrow chassis and sleek bodywork, the Recursion boasts the running performance of higher capacity machines while retaining the handling characteristics and economy of smaller models.
