It is not by accident that you get invited to The Brooklyn Invitational, one of America’s most prestigious motorcycle shows. Definitely not when you’re invited five times in a row! Jeff Wright, who runs Church Of Choppers, is at the top of his game and knows exactly what he’s doing; take a look at this stunning 1990 Harley-Davidson FXR for instance.

The star of last year’s Invitational, the project took several years to pull off, and looks every bit worth the effort. The factory reconditioned 81 cubic inch Evo engine is accompanied by a Keihin FCR carburetor, Dyna S electronic ignition, hand-fabricated exhaust piping and a Racefit muffler. The dynamics is improved thanks to forks from a later-model Dyna, piggyback shocks from Mach/Modified, which are bolted to a custom swingarm, and massive Beringer rotors.

The all-new sheet metal lends the Church of Choppers FXR a lean and tight appearance – something you don’t often associate with goods from Milwaukee – along with perfectly machined parts, piping and brackets. The build is set off with a bright yet tasteful palette; red for the tank and front brake rotor, green for the tail unit, and blue for the rear brake mount. The shock springs are painted a bright orange, and the clear ignition cover is yellow.
