Yamaha’s Yard Built programme has gone from strength to strength over the last few years. Yard Built has quickly grown a global audience of enthusiastic custom bike fans as some of the world’s best customizers have collaborated with Yamaha to create stunning creations based on the current Sport Heritage range.

Recent collaborations with builders such as the Wrenchmonkees, Matt Black Custom Designs and it roCkS!bikes have shown that you can take a brand new bike from the Sport Heritage range and personalise it your liking without any cutting or welding to the frame, opening up a world of possibilities for bike owners who have considered their own custom but were afraid of the technical knowledge required.

To prove this concept and show it’s not just the top custom builders who can do this, Yamaha’s Official European dealers have taken up the challenge and are entered into the Yamaha ‘Dealer Built’ contest to see who can create the best custom from the Sport Heritage range. The dealers have been busy over the last few months with some very simple rules; the bike needed to be from the current Sport Heritage range, no cutting or welding to the bike was allowed and a number of genuine aftermarket accessories had to be used.

And the results are pretty impressive, as you can see from this custom built by French dealer Liberty Yam. The V-Speed opens a new route, the Café-Dragster one. Many of its pieces are one-off pieces and based on dynamic and attractive performances; half-fairing inspired by the MT-OS, aluminium loop back, carbon flasks and back, leather seat. The 2cm lowered trim, the shifter with control on the handlebar, the large rear rim and the added weight put the finishing touches to its amazing potential for accelerating.
