Ventus Garage might be a relatively new outfit, but that hasn’t stopped them from coming up with some pretty interesting builds since 2011. Made up of three Polish friends – Paweł Guzik, his brother Maciek Guzik, and Tomek Janicki, the team also includes several friends and contributors who inspire and help them push their limits. Paweł is responsible for media promotions, while Maciek and Tomek are motorcycle designers and builders, based in Australia and Poland respectively.

The Scoundrel started life as a 1986 Kawasaki KZ 550, a motorcycle that the brothers’ best friend Tomek was in love with, thanks to its powerful motor and neat six-spoke aluminium wheels. When you work on custom motorcycles day in and day out, you can’t keep your own ride stock, can you? To transform it into a classic cafe racer, the team first cut the frame and closed it with a loop, which made it visually attractive and gave it a much needed spark. The front suspension was shortened by 8cm, with the rear shocks mounted 8cm longer than the original items. The fuel tank was stripped of paint, clear coated, and raised to meet the frame line, while the engine cooling fins were polished to further accentuate the classic feel.

On the performance front, refreshed Mikuni carbs with larger jets, NGK spark plugs, and wrapped exhaust pipes are joined by RM sprockets and chain. Firestone Deluxe Champion tyres, sized 4.00-19″ front and 5.00-16″ rear add to the overall charm, with stainless steel braided brake lines take care of stopping duties. The build is topped off with a custom-made seat, clip-on handlebars, Beston grips and a 5.75″ Bates headlight wrapped with yellow foil.
